Day 22: Progress
I learned how to pack well from my family not pack light. This doesn't even include the camera or the three apple products that will be accompanying me. Inventory clockwise from top left: three sweat bands for family portrait (hmmm... recent observation: looking a little like the Portland Trailblazers), lens-less glasses, pocketknife, Braydee's key, tracing paper, assortment of drawing pencils, Uhu stick (never leave home without it), kneaded eraser and regular eraser, scissors, artist tape, the library (Susan Casey's The Wave : In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean and Witold Rybczynski's Home: A Short History of an Idea), sketchbook, journal, 5 Year Planner & two pens, clipboard with questionnaire, graph paper, drawing paper, and lined notebook paper, the blue folder containing every reservation, "the list" for this trip, directions, four photographs to tape to the dashboard, California road map to butcher, binoculars, and Felix the good luck travel charm who goes on every journey.
All photographed in the 1 AM light - the only time I ever pack... last minute... the early morning of....
...and the hours spent today working on getting ready? Screw that. I didn't count them.
