John Gossage from The Pond, 1985
I can watch the wind blow through leaves in the trees all day long. It's a meditative activity as I often don't have time to do it but when I do, it's very relaxing. I've always been drawn to the dead branches that hang on to the fully alive ones around them, not yet letting go (or maybe it's the limbs around them that are holding on). There is a sense of loss and the inability to set something free. In a way, John Gossage's photograph could be my self-portrait.
